This is arguably the most famous painting and certainly one of the oldest (if not the oldest known) of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, by Pompeo Batoni (Pompeo only being born 18 years after St. Margaret Mary Alacoque died)

The painting is enshrined above the altar in the northern side chapel of Il Gesù. The Chiesa del Santissimo Nome di Gesù all'Argentina (The Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus at the "Argentina") is a famous Jesuit Church in Rome with the first truly baroque façade, which introduced the baroque style into architecture. This church served as model for innumerable Jesuit churches all over the world, especially in the Americas.

Pompeo Batoni Pompeo Girolamo Batoni (25 January 1708 – 4 February 1787) He specialized in portraits due to the high number of noble foreign visitors travelling throughout Italy and reaching Rome during their "Grand Tours." Batoni won international fame largely thanks to his customers, mostly British of noble origin, whom he portrayed, often with famous Italian landscapes in the background. Such "Grand Tour" portraits by Batoni were in British private collections, thus ensuring the genre's popularity in Great Britain.
