There is much debate about the names & gifts of the Three Kings, since the Scriptures do not name these venerable men and designate which gift was given by whom. The Catholic Art Company chooses to follow the tradition of the Historia Trium Regum ( History Of The Three Kings) by John Of Hildesheim for the sake of distinguishing these old Saints.

St. Caspar (otherwise known as Casper, Gaspar, Kaspar, and other variations) was King of Tharsis and an Ethiopian. He gave the gift of Myrrh to the Christ Child, used in the annointing of Kings reminding them of their future death.

All Three of the Kings are buried in a large gilded and decorated triple sarcophagus placed above and behind the high altar of Cologne Cathedral in western Germany.

This image is a portrait extract from a collection of paintings called "La Cavalcata dei Magi" in the Magi Chapel in the Palazzo Medici Riccardi in Florence, Italy. It was painted by Benozzo Gozzoli in about 1459.
