Erasmus of Rotterdam
Portrait of Erasmus is a late period 1526 woodcut engraving. The portrait was commissioned by the Dutch Renaissance humanist Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (c.1466-69 -1536) when the two men met in the Netherlands between 1520 and 1521.
Albrecht Durer was a painter, print-maker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Durer established his reputation and influence across Europe when he was still in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints.
