On only a few occasions did Durer move from woodcut to oil paintings like this one of the Madonna. Note the beautiful details of folded cloth and ringlets of golden hair. The Durer style is still apparent but obviously transformed from the brown sepia tones he is accustomed to working with to the magnificent blue and gold colors you see before you!
